  • Call 811 or file online at missdig811.org at least three business days before you dig. The service is free.
  • Describe the work as fence installation by auger, give the address and the nearest cross streets, and outline the fence line on the ticket map.
  • Wait for the utilities to mark their lines with paint or flags, and keep the marks visible while you work. Hand-dig near any mark.
  • MISS DIG marks public utility lines only. Private lines such as sprinkler systems, invisible dog fences, garage and outbuilding feeds and private drains are the property owner's responsibility to locate.
  • Keep your ticket number with your permit paperwork.
